Baja Joes,

I like your idea--there would definitely be some fuel savings too if those side mirrors were eliminated.

I would also like to see some kind "smart" self-aiming & brightness adjustment technology applied to the headlamps. They would be nice and bright covering a wide area when you are by yourself on a dark road, and then adjust brightness and coverage for traffic conditions going to almost completely off on a well-lit downtown street.

I have some ideas but I leave it to the board to tell me if they are practical.
1.Except for forward headlights All the light sockets and bulbs are unnecessary. All that is needed are Fiber Optic Cables with screens to project onto.
2.Mirriors are unnecessary(inside and outside) and could be replaced with cameras.
I envision a panoramic viewing screen on top of the dash in a line with the hood to keep vision forward.Cameras on each end of a wrap-araound windshield and on the rear window deck could be combined to give a 270% view onto the top of the dash in line with the hood. Safety and Savings could improve.

Saturn and the older GM MPV minivans did away with composite body panels due to the high cost of these parts. Steel is less expensive.

Wasn't one of Saturn's early features the benefit of consumer replaceable body panels? I seem to remember talking to a dealer about that when the company first launched, but you never hear anything about it now. Did they do away with that feature?

How about powering that trickle charger with a little solar panel? So even if you do leave your lights on...

I would also like to see side mirrors with the same anti-glare prizimatic (is that the right word?) capability as the inside rear view.

And speaking of concept cars, can we please get away from this idea that if a car is economical it has to be a butt-ugly blob with styling that would embarass a golf cart.

We really need some great concept cars that run on electricity and cost one tenth of what a usual gas guzzler costs to run.
